Submission

Father,

Help us to learn to be submissive. Help us to be under what You have told us to be under. First, help us to trust You and to live under Your authority in every segment of our lives. Many of us love to control; help us to learn that we can trust You and let go.

Help us to see that as we submit to those You have told us to submit to, we in turn learn to submit to You.

Help us to be under the authority of the civil government, Your ministers for good. Help us submit to the shepherds over us, for they will give account for our souls. Help us submit to those who are older.

Help us in our marriages to be submissive to each other. As employees, help us to submit to those in charge of that role in our lives. As Christians, help us to submit to each other, not always striving for our own way.

Teach us to follow the example of Jesus, who prayed, "Not my will, but Yours be done." May our submission never be rooted in weakness or fear, but in faith, trust, and love for You.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
