About: University has been without a youth minister for almost a year. They are prayerfully considering all candidates and looking for someone who can grow the youth group program.

Job Description: General: • Inspire, motivate and lead students and their parents in holy living in every aspect of their lives • Teach and instruct all who are involved in the ministry that God is creator and sustainer, that the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers, and that Jesus is Savior and Lord • Provide a biblical theology for all who are in the ministry that the church is the bride of Christ • Engage as co-laborers with God in the spiritual formation of students and their families • Equip and motivate students to critically and theologically study scripture to prepare them for living in a pluralistic and relativistic culture • Seek opportunities to integrate the youth into all aspects of the University Church • Encourage missional living through short term mission trips, training about ways to effectively engage the culture with gospel • Be available to provide pastoral care for the Youth students and their parents who are dealing with a personal crisis • Work in harmony with the staff and elders in implementing the spiritual purposes and vision for the congregation • Design contexts that encourage spiritual leadership in the youth ministry and throughout life • Coordinate the communication about the Youth Ministry with the elders and the other staff members • Guard personal, physical, emotional, family and spiritual health by establishing a sacred rhythm for your family and you which provides an example to the Youth group of holy life • Create opportunities where parents and other adults can intentionally mentor and engage in relationships with all students • Provide opportunities for all youth ministry volunteers to grow spiritually and to develop skills and methodology through study and training events • Engage regularly with conversation partners in other youth ministries Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Four-year bachelor degree (Biblical Studies or Christian Ministry preferred) • Prefer experience in Youth Ministry • Excellent interpersonal skills • Excellent knowledge of the Bible and ability to apply Biblical principles to current culture. • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing • Ability to inspire, guide, and motivate • Effective servant leader and team builder • Ability to multi-task and manage several concurrent projects effectively • Strategic and visionary thinker • Team player Primary Tasks • Manage and coordinate the efforts of the Youth Ministry (7th -12th grade), including Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening activities • Coordinate special events and activities for the Bridge Ministry (4th -6th grade) in partnership with the Children’s Ministry. • Recruit adult volunteers and provide them with necessary resources and training • Communicate the vision, mission, and purpose of the Youth Ministry to the church • Engage youth and their families in God centered spiritual formation • Supervise and manage special projects as assigned by elders • Be a responsible participant with all who serve as staff at University Church • Commit to ongoing spiritual, personal, and professional growth
