A New Testament Prayer for Preachers
Dale here: Years ago I heard Jeff preach about a Prayer Report from Paul from Philippians. He said: “You can pray this today and know you are praying God’s Will.” Powerful. Today’s prayer takes PRAYERS FOR PREACHERS actually in the New Testament and forms a prayer for you.
A Prayer for Preachers
Father, we thank you for the men who stand up to speak your word (1 Thess. 5:25).
May they hear Your Word and when they open their mouths, and let them make known the gospel with boldness (Eph. 6:19-20). Open a door for the Word, and help them make it clear (Col. 4:3-4). Let your word run swiftly and be honored (2 Thess. 3:1). Let their service be accepted by the saints, and bring them to their people with joy and rest in your presence (Rom. 15:31-32).
Remind them that you are the God who has helped them before and will help them again. We will join you with our prayers, and we trust the help of your Spirit to carry them (2 Cor. 1:10-11; Phil. 1:19).
Lord, as your first church prayed, grant your servants to speak your word with all boldness (Acts 4:29). Let us pray for them as earnestly as the church prayed for Peter (Acts 12:5). Send them forth with fasting and prayer, and commit them to your grace (Acts 13:2-3; 14:26). We commend them to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build them up (Acts 20:32).
As Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail, and you told him to strengthen his brothers (Luke 22:32). Pray that for every preacher. Sanctify them in your truth, for your word is truth (John 17:17). Give each preacher someone who prays for him night and day (2 Tim. 1:3). Give each weary preacher friends who hold up his hands until the work is done (Ex. 17:12).
Lord of the harvest, the harvest is plentiful. We pray earnestly that you would send out workers (Matt. 9:37-38).
In Jesus' name, Amen.
