This Matters

We have a little sticker that we hand out to preachers every once in a while that is in the shape of a pulpit, with the words, “This Matters.” Hopefully, all of us who endeavor to proclaim the Word of God on a regular basis believe that the work we do in the pulpit matters. We hope we understand that it matters to our Lord, to the people who sit and listen to us each week, and to us personally.

The pulpit matters, but that isn’t all that matters concerning the work we do. Our prayer matters, study matters, our ministry matters, our counseling matters, our visiting matters, our participation in the lives of the people we work with every day matters, our involvement in the communities in which we live matters, our Bible studies with those who are not Christians matter, our sending texts, making calls, or visits to the people who need to be encouraged matters, our marriage matters, our children matter, and everything else that you can think of that I haven’t included here matters.

We’ve had the privilege of spending several days with preachers in Ecuador. One of the things that stands out wherever we go in the world to work with preachers is that we are all alike. We share the same challenges in our families,  with our finances, in our relationships with church leaders as well as members of our church families.

All of us want to preach and minister in a way that glorifies God and brings others closer to Him. We want to do our best for Him. We want to make a difference. We want to treat our loved ones how Jesus treats us. 

We want to matter. Brothers, thank you for what you do for the Kingdom. Please don’t ever forget that YOU MATTER!!
