His Peace

Fear can be an overwhelming emotion. It seems that we humans are really good at experiencing anxiety & fear. We are afraid of snakes, heights, spiders, the dark, war, and numerous other fearful creatures.

Then, there are the biggies that cause us to have to deal with fear. You know some of them, maybe too well: Family concerns, financial issues, loneliness, the future, and the unknown.

As men who are proclaimers of the Prince of Peace, we know that we are supposed to trust Him and give Him all of our worries, concerns, and our fears. Let’s be honest, it’s easy to say that, even to quote Scripture, but it isn’t always easy to do!

May I share a few suggestions that may help if you are struggling with fear of loneliness, the future, and the unknown? (1) Regularly talk to the Father. His throne room is always open, and He wants us to speak with him about our fears. He longs for His people to cast all of our anxieties on Him. (2) Spend time in Scripture. If you feel gripped by fear, read the Psalms. It might help to know that this man after God’s heart struggled with the fear of the unknown in his life. His words, his thoughts, and his prayers can help build strong faith in us. (3) Surround yourself with people who love you, have some depth of understanding, and who will encourage your heart. (4) Know that you are not alone. There are fellow preachers on this journey we call life who understand where you are right now.

My prayer is that if you are dealing with fear that these thoughts will encourage you. May the God of peace grant you an extraordinary measure of His peace that passes all understanding.
