Job Descrtiption: The pulpit minister is a full-time position that works alongside the eldership to spiritually strengthen the Church providing direction and training for its members for discipleship and service. He is a devoted follower and disciple of Jesus, and serves the Lord with passion and a sincere love for preaching the Gospel. The pulpit minister promotes growth among members and demonstrates how to be in communion with God and one another, equipping members with knowledge of the Gospel for sharing it with the lost. He will work and support the vision and mission of the Church of Christ at Tenth Street. General Responsibilities  Pulpit preaching - Prepare and deliver scriptural sermons that are applicable and inspiring. Ensure that the worship services are Christ-centered and Holy Spirit led.  Teach Bible classes – teaching classes that edify, motivate, and promote spiritual growth and maturity. Provide coaching and mentoring to other teachers of the Word.  Evangelism and Community Outreach - Participates in developing/leading community outreach efforts. Helps maintain a social media presence for the church and contributes to content.  Actively attend Elders and Deacons meetings to facilitate effective communication and coordination of objectives and activities.  Responsible for the oversight of the church secretary  Care for the membership - Participate in coordination and visitation of sick and shut-ins, demonstrating warmth and sensitivity to the needs of the members.  Provide biblical based advice and spiritual guidance and counsel for members and those in need regarding their spiritual wellbeing ensuring confidentiality and discernment.  Attentive to the needs of pre-marriage, newly married and troubled marriages in the church.  Officiate and perform weddings and funeral services consistent with God’s Word.  Prepare bulletin articles General Expectations and Competencies  Biblical Knowledge - Proficient Biblical knowledge and ability to apply Biblical principles to current culture; spends time in prayer and study of God’s Word daily.  Possesses a desire for continuous personal growth; regularly taking advantage of learning opportunities (e.g. personal study, reading, conferences, seeking counsel with the Elders and other Ministers).  Planning and Organizational Skills – Establishes courses of action to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Ability to prioritize, schedule, maintain focus and follow through to completion.  Maintains office hours as agreed upon by the Elders. Focuses on his family’s welfare to ensure they are cared for spiritually, emotionally and physically. Education and Experience  Four-year bachelor’s degree preferred with a preference in Biblical Studies (direct experience in lieu of formal education may be acceptable).  Proven experience in ministry and preaching with a minimum of 10 years’ experience required.
