About: Winchester Church of Christ in Winchester, Tennessee, seeks a full-time pulpit minister as its current minister and family move to another congregation after 20 years of service. The church has approximately 350 members, six elders, ten deacons, and a Youth and Family Minister. Sunday morning attendance averages 325.
The congregation supports domestic and foreign missions and welcomes new outreach initiatives. Winchester Christian Academy, an independent school serving 350 students through 12th grade, operates on the church grounds and across the street. The elders seek a minister committed to Scripture, spiritual growth, teamwork, and congregational unity.
Responsibilities: Preach Sunday morning and evening sermons; teach adult Bible classes regularly on Sundays and midweek; and lead or coordinate devotionals and special teaching opportunities. Conduct chapel and teach Bible at Winchester Christian Academy as needed with eldership approval.
Build relationships through personal interaction, visitation, and counseling within your abilities. Support members through hospital stays, funerals, weddings, and other life events. Follow up with visitors, pursue personal evangelism, and encourage restoration of wayward members. Mentor and work closely with the Youth and Family Minister. Coordinate schedules so a minister is on-site during church office hours.
Collaborate with elders and ministry leaders, mentor volunteers, plan special events and outreach, and meet regularly with the elders as requested or scheduled. Maintain personal spiritual growth, attend relevant workshops, conferences, and lectureships, and stay current with ministry tools and methods.
Qualifications: A mature, married Christian man with a minimum four-year degree; commitment to the authority of Scripture; proven preaching and teaching ability; experience serving under an eldership; a heart for outreach and evangelism; and strong leadership and organizational skills. The congregation seeks a humble, energetic servant who works well with others, communicates clearly and lovingly, is approachable, and supports family involvement in ministry.
