In a Time of Conflict: A Prayer for Preachers

Father,

Bless these men of Yours — ambassadors of Truth and Grace. May our hearts be so turned to You and Your Kingdom that our responses to culture, politics, war, personal pain, tragedy, and change reflect You, respect Your Word, glorify You, and reveal a love for both Your Family and those who are lost. May both those who hear these preach and watch their lives and those who know them in their communities come to expect that they will bring a Word from the Lord to each encounter they have. 

Give each of them wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, when to be aggressive and when to be tender, when to defend and when to withdraw. Keep their hearts strong and their resolve clear. 

Guard them from cynicism but to know Your Word can change others and that even those who are most opposed to You and Your Way, You gave Your Son to save. Help us to value others. In a time of conflict and disarray may these Your men find and be exemplars of righteous Peace.
