THE LEADER

Oh Lord, in this world there are many directions, many leaders, many voices. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the demands, suggestions, critiques and general traffic noise around me. 

But You, You are never overwhelmed. 

And You, You know the right way to go. 

And You, You are the Leader of life! 

You show me in Your Word how to go, the right path. You provide direction for my day, week, and life. You are leading, not me. My acknowledgement of this brings glory to Your Name. I am thankful!

O Lord, the dark roads scare me. Roads of illness or sadness, far from the bright mountaintops. I will walk them here. In them, the voice of fear calls out. But I fix my gaze more firmly on You. You are leading, even here. 

I see the gentle way You help. You hear my distress; You provide. You are kind and loving. “You hem me behind and before and lay Your hand on me”, Psalm 139:5. You have just what I need. You shine on the path. You give me strength.

I see the powerful way you face evil. Nothing can stand against You! Nothing and no one can “snatch me” from Your hand, John 10:28,29. You are bigger than any enemy. This comforts and assures me. I am safe with You.

Those alluring voices, condemning voices, critical voices? Those voices are not Yours, Romans 8:1! The “accuser” speaks loudly, Revelation 12:10. But Your Truth pierces through all his lies, speaking peace into my heart. Wherever the path leads, Lord, may I follow only Your voice of Truth. 

So when I feel overwhelmed, Lord, help me fix my eyes on You, call to You, and follow close. You are the perfect Leader for all of life!
