It Takes All Kinds

First, please accept my apology for not getting this out earlier. It’s been quite a week, and a little difficult to get everything accomplished. My sincere prayer is that you are doing well and I know that you are glorifying our God through your life as well as your work.

During the past couple of weeks it has been a tremendous blessing to spend time with numerous preachers. Some of them have been friends for many years and others are just becoming friends. Each one has taught me something valuable about preaching and ministry.

One thought that stands out in my mind is that each one is different. All of us who preach have our unique strengths as well as weaknesses. Some preachers can move you emotionally every time they present the Word of God. Some are strong in their command of scripture and biblical teaching. Some preachers speak directly to your heart every time you hear them. Some preachers make you feel like they understand what you are dealing with in your life.

Some are really good in a crowd while others seem to do their best work among small groups or in individual settings. There are preachers who have personalities that cause them to want to be alone at times, and there are some who love a crowd. Some are quieter and more reserved, while others are very outgoing and love to talk.

Whatever personality you have and however you feel about preaching, ministry, and spending time in the lives of people, what matters most is that we preach the Word of God in a way that shows our love for God, His Word, and for those with whom we work. My prayer for all of us who preach is that our great joy will be to preach the Word and love the people.
