Preaching the Gospel is a life-changing experience. As we prayerfully study the Word of God, our lives are changed. When we preach the truth in love, there will be people who are listening, and their lives will be changed. Our task is to remember that it’s not our ability, creativity, or even persuasiveness that changes lives. It’s the beautiful Good News about Jesus.
The Gospel changes lives by freeing us from the past, giving us the power to live in the present, and creating hope in our hearts for the future. Whenever we preach this life-giving, life-changing Good News, we are fulfilling God’s purpose for preaching.
It is also true that the way we minister to others, as well as the way we live, we can encourage change in people around us. Our brother Paul wrote to his young friend Timothy and reminded him, “Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, persecutions, and sufferings…” (2 Timothy 3:10) What Peter said about Christian women winning their husbands to the Lord through their living, is true about the lives of preachers as well as all of God’s children.
So, my dear brothers, please don’t forget that the work you did on Sunday and the work you are doing this week matters. It matters to young Christians. It matters to people who are struggling with their faith. It matters to those who are not yet Christians. It matters to those nearing the end of their lives. That’s why we need to keep going, even when we have difficult days. Keep preaching. Keep living for Him. Keep letting your light shine.
May He bless you and your loved ones as you continue to proclaim the Good News and as you live for Him.
