Encouragers Everywhere

It’s always a wonderful blessing to sit around and listen to preachers discuss their work. Occasionally, I hear about their problems and concerns. But, most often, I hear about the joy they have in the work they are doing. In a recent conversation with a group of preachers, the talk kept coming back to different people who have encouraged them.

Some of them talked about other preachers, while others talked about how they had received encouragement from elders and other members of their church family. Also, I was sitting at dinner with a group of elders recently, and they were talking about how much they love their preacher and what a great job he is doing.

There are times when people encourage quietly without much fanfare. It could be through a simple text or note. There are other times that preachers are encouraged publicly or in some open, larger way.

My prayer for all preachers is that we would know that when we are doing the Lord’s work, there are people who will encourage us, but there are always people who will be encouraged. May God bless you this week and allow His encouragement through His people to lift your heart and to drive you to keep doing His Will. We love you all very much.

“The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives strength to the weary, and to the one who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah 40:28-31)
