You are a Difference Maker

There are some Sundays that we wonder if we connected. Did the sermon reach the ears, much less the hearts of the listeners? Did it make sense? Was it too shallow? Was it too much over the top? And the big question, will it make any difference in the lives of our people moving forward?

Here’s what we can be sure about as preachers. If we preached the Truth, if we preached the unsearchable riches of Christ, and if we preached it in love, we made a difference. Not because of our gifts, not because of our ability, or our persuasive words, but it is because it is the Gospel. The life-changing, difference-making Gospel.

Your preaching yesterday might have made a difference in somebody’s marriage. It might have made a difference in how someone will deal with their children. It might have made a difference in how someone will go about their job this week. It might have made a difference in how someone treat strangers.

It might have made a difference in the decisions some will make. It might have made a difference in whether or not someone will choose to say no to sin and yes to Jesus. It might have made a difference in the future of some young person. It might have made a difference in the decisions that elder makes about the future of the congregation.

It could have made a difference in any of these ways as well as numerous other ways. However, here is the big one. If you preached God’s Word in love, you made a difference in someone’s eternity. They may not even realize it yet, but they will. May God bless you for being a difference maker. Keep up the great work and have a wonderful week!
