A Prayer for many of us

Father,
May we ever remember that You are the focal point—
that it is big YOU and little us.

Forgive us when ego and pride,
when the desire for self-promotion and the pride of life,
creep in and distort our relationships—
with those who preach,
with those who lead,
with those who are over us,
with those in our own homes,
and even with those we might be tempted to see as less.

Help us to grow smaller in our own estimation
as You grow larger in our sight.
Teach us to find peace and comfort in that righteous reordering.

We confess that we crave humility but often resist the road that leads there.
Give us the grace to learn,
the patience to be shaped,
and the courage to welcome Your work in us.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
