Every preacher reading these thoughts is well aware that being a preacher is so much more than standing in front of people to speak. A preacher is a man who loves studying the Word of God. He is a man who loves preaching the Word of God. A preacher is a man who is thrilled when the Word of God changes lives.
A preacher is also a man who loves people. He loves those who are not a part of the Kingdom. He is a man who loves the people of God. He believes that the people who come to hear the Word of God preached are his family.
We are entering a time of year when Christians all around the world are rejoicing. They are rejoicing because Jesus humbled Himself, put on flesh, and came to live among us. They are rejoicing because they will spend time with family and loved ones. They are rejoicing because they are surrounded by people they love.
However, it is also a time of year when many Christians are hurting. The holiday season is a time that reminds them of their loneliness. Some are separated from family due to distance, work schedules, or maybe even strained relationships.
These people need to hear from their preacher. They need to know that he loves them and cares deeply for them. So dear brothers, send some texts, make some calls, maybe even make a visit to those who are alone. They need you.
If you can, take some time to rest and recharge, but don’t forget to take a moment for those who are lonely. They need you to remind them of God’s love, HIs forever presence, and His greatest gift to mankind. Thank you for all you do for our Lord and for His people. We love you.
