"SCOOPS!!!!"

We begin this long weekend list of scoops with the North Garland Church in Enid, Oklahoma who is searching for a new pulpit minister.  "We are a congregation of 250-300 members seeking a dedicated Pulpit Minister to lead our congregation, while encouraging spiritual growth and development among our members, their families and within our community.  Applicant will be responsible for working with elders and ministry team to plan, coordinate, and organize the ministry programs of North Garland Church of Christ. We are seeking someone with a strong faith and commitment to continual growth in God’s word who will preach, teach Bible classes, help organize church activities, encourage attendance and participation, and promote growth while working diligently to seek opportunities in the community to share God’s word. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible are preferred, but we will consider applicants with demonstrated successful ministry experience. Please e-mail your letter of application, resume and digital sample of a sermon(s) to ngcoc.preacher@gmail.com by December 31, 2011."

Our next scoop is from Priceville, Alabama. "Our elders want me to initiate a search to find a youth minister to work part-time with our young people.  We will be flexible to work with the person's schedule because they need to have outside employment, but we will be able to provide them weekly compensation.  Ideally, we would like someone 20-25, full of energy, and, most importantly, with a heart for the Savior.  They would be expected to help out in our Bible class program on Sundays, conduct our youth group sessions on Wednesdays, organize periodic devos and activities for the kids both from the congregation and from the community, organize and take the kids to the Area Wide Youth Devotionals and other church-wide youth activities, lead singing and fully participate in our worship duty roster rotation. Priceville has never had anything like this, so it will be a great chance to get in at the ground floor and help start something worthwhile.  Priceville has more than doubled in membership in the last five years and we are expecting continued growth.  We recently began a "step by step" project to renovate our church building, classrooms, and fellowship hall.  Our building is located just off I-65 Exit 334, the first exit south of the Tennessee River between Decatur and Huntsville, Alabama.  As we grow, the position will grow. If interested, please contact me by email at michaelwrhodes@gmail.com."

This scoop comes to us from our dear friend Dennis Jones. The Pleasant View congregation in the San Francisco suburbs is looking for a new minister.   You visited our congregation and preached for us for a weekend about 10 years ago, when Kerry Williams was our minister.  The pertinent objective facts are …  average attendance Sunday mornings 75-80; three elders and three deacons; salary  plus free housing and health insurance.  Spiritual situation…  Moderately conservative in the current context of churches of Christ in the US.   We are doing very well with our small number of youth (12 years, 17 high school graduates: 13 are very active in churches of Christ; 3 attend churches of Christ somewhat regularly; 1 attends a community church).  Our elders are very good at working in troubled marriages, plus we have access to a licensed marriage and family counselor who is a member of a neighboring congregation.  We have done terribly with evangelism outside our own families:  Five baptisms in 12 years, but we have held three of these converts.  We are looking for someone who can deliver excellent pulpit work and help us with evangelism.  Do you have any ideas?  We are not limiting ourselves to ministers who are unemployed or actively seeking a new work.  I am not shy about recruiting someone from the Bible belt to move to a mission field.   Absent exceptional circumstances, we probably do not want someone seeking his first full-time work.  To learn more about Pleasant View look at their website: www.pvchurchofchrist.org/index.htm.

The following scoop comes from Will Perkins: "I wanted to let you know that the Hinton Church of Christ in Hinton, WV is in need of a preacher.  They have 3 elders and an average Sunday morning attendance of 42.  For more information contact Clark Perkins at 304-445-7313."

The Church of Christ in Athens, Tennesseeis seeking a full-time pulpit minister. Craig Owen scoops himself. "Effective December 18th of this year I will be moving to Senatobia, Mississippi to work as the Involvement Minister with the family of believers there.  With that said the Winona Church of Christ is actively pursuing a new minister.  This a wonderful congregation of about 65 to 70 members in central Mississippi.  They are a unique family that aspires to draw others and themselves closer to God. Their website is www.winonachurchofchrist.org, where more information about the position is available and contact information as well.  Just wanted to pass this along with hopes that it may find the heart of a man whom God is preparing Kingdom work there for.  Thanks so much."

Our close friend Randy Mathis also scoops himself. "I will be leaving the Colleyville church of Christ in Colleyville, TX come January to go to Lake City, FL to take the pulpit at Lake City church of Christ. Very excited about this move. Lake City elders have many great things going on and can't wait to get into the work there."
