First Step

Laura and I had the joy of being with our sweet granddaughter, Evie (and her parents), on her first birthday last week. Our precious little one-year-old bundle of joy has brought more happiness to us than we could have ever dreamed possible. We love to hold her, watch her, listen to her, and just spend time with her. We thank God for her every day. We also thank God that she is blessed with two wonderful parents. We are proud of them and we know they will continue to raise her in the way that will please the Lord. During her Birthday party we watched her as she took her first step! She has taken a few more since then and we know she’ll be walking everywhere soon. We pray that the Lord will allow us to see her take many steps throughout her life.

WE PRAY THAT WE WILL SEE HER TAKE STEPS IN LEARNING.

We are thankful that our sweet Evie will grow up in a home where she will learn. Her first party theme was books. She received many books from friends and family. She will be taught to read those books and she will learn a great deal. She will also learn the Truth of God’s Word. She will be taught Scripture. She is already learning in Bible classes and from her parents. She will hear God’s Word preached and she will learn how to live a life that pleases Him.

WE PRAY THAT WE WILL SEE HER TAKE STEPS OF OBEDIENCE.

Evie will learn to obey her parents. She will be taught to honor her parents and she will learn to trust their guidance. She will be taught to obey others who are in authority over her. She will be taught to obey the Lord above everyone else. It will be thrilling to watch her take the step into the water where she will obey the Lord’s command to be baptized.

WE PRAY THAT WE WILL SEE HER TAKE STEPS THAT WILL LEAD TO GOOD FRIENDSHIPS.

Our prayer is that she will be surrounded all her life with people who share the same ideas, goals, and dreams that she will hold dear to her heart.

WE PRAY THAT WE SEE HER STEP DOWN THE AILSE OF MARRIAGE.

We pray even now that when she takes that first step down the aisle that the young man who waits for her at the front will be a man of God. We pray that he will have learned from his own parents and those who teach him the importance of being the Spiritual leader in the family. We pray that their marriage will be a match made in Heaven and that their home will be filled with great joy. We pray that there home will be centered on Jesus and that they will grow together each step of the way.

WE PRAY THAT WE WILL SEE HER TAKE STEPS OF SERVICE.

Our prayer is that our sweet little Evie will learn to sever those around her. We want to see her reaching out to others and showing the love of Jesus to those around her. We pray that she will follow in the steps of Jesus as she serves others. That first step in a child’s life is exciting and important. However there are thousands of other steps they will take and they need guidance from Godly parents, grand parents, friends, etc as they step through life.

Dear Father, we thank You for precious children. We thank You for what they mean to our lives. We thank You for the joy they bring. Help us, Lord, to influence them in powerful ways. Help us to teach them Your Word and help us to live the kind of lives that they will want to follow. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
