A Common Bond...

I enjoyed preaching tonight at one of my favorite places. It’s the church in Calvert City, KY. Just up the road is Patti’s 1880’s Settlement. Patti’s was listed back about 4 years ago as one of my Top 5 favorite restaurants anywhere. They have 1 and 2 inch pork-chops, bread in a flowerpot with amazing strawberry butter and 7 inch high chocolate pie!

I must confess that my first trip to preach at Calvert City what I loved most was the visit to Miss Patti’s (as I call it for some reason). I wasn’t sure why they had me. I was totally unknown there and at that time the only person I knew there was Lance Cordle. Lance is the preacher there and such a consistent and good man. I suspicion I was either invited by Lance or because most everyone there loved our Brother Willard Collins. They invited me back and I took my friend Trae, they did again and I took both my boys, I took my nephews and Scott and others through the years. I still love Miss Patti’s but somewhere along the way I got to where I just love seeing so very many dear and faithful Christians there.

Among them are the Herringtons. Paula is a talented writer and does a wonderful blog. She wrote a great book a couple of years ago that my Melanie contributed some to on preachers’ wife’s. NOW she has just completed a new one called “A Common Bond”. This one deals with preachers. I was honored to be a part of it and Paula sent me an electronic version and a copy of it. She wanted me to be a part of her “book blog tour.” What a very neat idea Paula. Paula is a creative delight!

I was honored to be one of about 30 preachers interviewed for the book. I was “the least” among this distinguished crowd of brothers. The finished product will reveal the heart of ministers and will help you understand your minister. If you “are one” it will bring tears to your eyes and tear at your heart. The list of topics that Paula selected are ones that will help you as you think about being the best you can be and as the hearts of these men are revealed. You’ll understand and then understand yourself better.

I encourage you to buy this book. You’ll be glad you did! Go here to buy your copy http://paulaharrington71.blogspot.com/2011/02/its-here.html
