Jump Start edition

Next week is the Freed-Hardeman Lectureships and the unofficial start of the annual “preacher apple turnover”. A lot of info is shared there and a lot of searches start then. But here are some to get you going.

Our friend, the multi-talented Houston Bynum scooped himself. After four years he is leaving LaVergne and looking for a new work. So, if you know of anywhere (preferably in middle TN) let Houston know. Houston may be in LaVergne till July so if you are interested in that work there may be not real hurry.

The Eva church in Eva, Alabama is looking for a new minister. You might contact Ronnie Ryan for info on it. Ronnie’s e-ddress is Ronryan@iglide.net

I also need to thank Steve Cummings for the scoop that the North Broad church in Albertville, AL has filled their pulpit.

The Central church in Benton, KY announces that they have hired Brian Brophy who is was the youth minister at the Pennyrile congregation in Madisonville, KY (so that job will be open) and Wade Gillespie who was at the Lafayette Church of Christ in St. Louis. I don’t know much of either of the places they have left but obviously their moves will leave some openings.

Sometimes churches look for fellows who can do some fill in preaching. Dad’s cousin, Ancil Jenkins, lets me know that his with Pasquo only requires me to teach a Wednesday class so he is available to fill in. He has great materials on the Restoration Movement. Sort of a reverse scoop.

Matthew Morine gets credit for this next scoop. The Katy Church of Christ, in Katy Texas near Houston is looking. It’s a congregation of about 450 people.  

Mark Howell who is now with the Midway church in Walker County, Alabama scoops that the elders at Atwood have asked Jon Townsend from Northport, Alabama to work with them.
